“Angry words are like a fist but the tongue of the wise brings healing.” - Proverbs 12:15

About Anger Management

We all know how anger looks, sounds, and feels; and we’ve all experienced it. Anger is a completely normal human emotion but when it gets out of control and turns destructive, it can lead to problems at work, in your relationships, and in the overall quality of your life. Whether as a feeling of annoyance or as full-fledged rage, anger can make you feel as though you’re at the mercy of an unpredictable and powerful emotion. Controlling anger can be essential for living a healthier and happier life.

Benefits of Anger Management

Anger management is cognitive therapy at its best! The premise of cognitive therapy is that the counselor helps the client to identify thoughts clearly. Sometimes these thoughts are irrational. Sometimes thoughts take root and become feelings that need to be managed. At Help to Adjust, anger management sessions will help you to learn your anger triggers, discuss their rationality and manage the feelings that come as a result. People who have had the sessions usually report a higher level of self-awareness, feelings of affirmation, and a sense of emotional balance.

An old Cherokee is teaching his grandson about life:

“A fight is going on inside me,” he said to the boy.
“It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves.

One is Blue – he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.”

He continued, “The other is Yellow – he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith.

The same fight is going on inside you–and inside every other person, too.”

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: “Which wolf will win?”

The old Cherokee simply replied, “If you feed them right, they both win.”

“How you choose to interact with the opposing forces within you will determine your life. Starve one or the other or guide (manage) them both.”
